India had to suffer a major defeat on diplomatic front with summoning of its session by UN Security Council (SC) today to discuss situation in Occupied Kashmir.

The matter of Indian illegal occupation of Kashmir has reached UNSC after 50 years. Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi had sent a letter for summoning UNSC session on the grave situation arising out of abrogation of article 370 on August 05 by India to abolish special status of Indian held Kashmir and imposition of curfew therein.

UNSC has now summoned its session today (Friday) on this count. Replying to a question UNSC President has said Kashmir issue is mostly probably to be discussed in closed door session.

India made all out efforts to stop convening UNSC session but it met failure.

It is first time in the last 50 years that UNSC is holding its session on Kashmir issue.

Firdous Ashiq Awan, special assistant to Prime Minister on Information has termed convening of UNSC session after five decades a diplomatic victory of Pakistan. Russia has also supported Pakistan demand.

She said in a tweet “ World is taking notice of unilateral and illegal step taken by Modi. UNSC meeting is a severe blow to India claim. Pakistan will plead the case of oppressed Kashmiris on every forum.
