World Cup 2019: New Zealand in big trouble lose fourth wicket against Pakistan

New Zealand got off to a disastrous start as they lost four early wickets after electing to bat against Pakistan in the World Cup clash at Birmingham.
Mohammad Amir bowled out Martin Guptill (5) in the second over and then Shaheen Afridi added to New Zealand’s woes by getting Colin Munro (12) caught at slip by Haris Sohail reducing them to 24/2 in the seventh over and Ross Taylor (3) caught by Sarfraz Ahmed.
New Zealand won the toss against Pakistan and decided to bat first in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on Wednesday at the Edgbaston, Birmingham.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson said, “You turn up and know you’ll have a tough game, as Pakistan are a very tough side. For us, it’s trying to build on those performances and keep improving.”
Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed said, “I wanted to bat first too. Good to see Amir back in form, as well as Wahab Riaz. The fielding is a concern but we’re working hard and hopefully we’ll do well as a fielding unit today.”
Both Pakistan and New Zealand sides are unchanged.
The toss was delayed till 03:00 PM (PST) after drizzling in Birmingham. The match started at 03:30 PM (PST) at the Edgbaston and no overs have been lost owing to the delay.
The Green Shirts must win all of their remaining matches in order to keep their chances to qualify for the semi-finals alive. The Kiwis – on the other hand – have not lost a single contest in the tournament and a win against Pakistan today will book their berth in the top four.
The spirits in the Pakistan camp are high at the moment after knocking South Africa out of the World Cup by defeating them by 49 runs in the previous match.
