Bangladesh defeated West Indies by seven wickets in the 23rd match of the ICC World Cup 2019 here at the County Ground in Taunton on Monday.

Chasing a big target of 322 runs, they completed their historic victory with 51 balls remaining.

Allrounder Shakib Al Hasan remained not out on 124 and Liton Das was 94 not out.

Earlier, West Indies made 321 runs for eight runs in 50 overs with the help of three individual fifties.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope made 96, just four runs short of his seventh hundred in one-day international cricket.

Other half-century makers were Evin Lewis (70) and Shimron Hetmyer (50).

Bangladesh won the toss and put West Indies to bat first.

Both the West Indies and Bangladesh have won one of their four group matches, with two defeats and one no result apiece.
