Law ministry has opined Kashmir issue can not be taken to International Court of Justice (ICJ) directly and it should be raised in UN Security Council and General Assembly.

Law ministry has sent these recommendations to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

Government had given indication to take Kashmir issue to ICJ following August 05 Indian Illegal steps and opinion from law ministry was solicited on this matter.

The law ministry after detailed consideration and consultation has expressed opinion that no treaty exists between Pakistan and India on this count. However UN Security Council or General Assembly can refer this matter to ICJ for advisory.
